Helen Hunt says she’s grateful to return to ‘Mad About You’ revival after ‘scary’ crash – USA TODAY
Helen Hunt is returning to work after surviving a nasty car crash that caused her SUV to flip onto its side, and she’s more “grateful” than ever.
The Oscar Award-winning actress, 56, is filming the upcoming revival of “Mad About You,” which catapulted Hunt to fame during its original run on NBC from 1992-1999. And she’s thankful to work alongside her co-star Paul Reiser.
“I’m grateful to be here with my friend,” Hunt told Entertainment Tonight.
Reiser replied, “Me, too.”
People and TMZ reported that Hunt was transported to a nearby hospital after the accident on Oct. 16 in Los Angeles. Footage obtained by TMZ shows a white car striking a black SUV, which continues to skid through the intersection before rolling onto the driver’s side.

Hunt suffered “no major injuries,” according to her representative, Stephen Huvane, but the actress was badly shaken up. “It was scary,” she told ET.
Now, she’s putting her full focus into the “Mad” reboot, which she thought was a “terrible idea” until recently.
“We agreed for 20 solid years that … we must never do it,” Hunt told the outlet. “Then, I don’t know, ‘Will & Grace’ was good and we realized that our (characters’) daughter – who was born the last year of the original show – would be leaving home and so suddenly (an) empty nest seemed like (something) we could write about.”
Reiser added, “Plus, if we waited any longer, we would be dead.”
“Mad About You” premieres on Spectrum’s On Demand platform on Nov. 20. Hunt reprises her four-time Emmy-winning role as Jamie Buchman, and Reiser is back as Jamie’s husband, Paul.
