‘Those years wouldn’t have been as special without my loving host Tom Bergeron, the talented dancers, and witty judges.

‘I will always cherish my days on set, even if I wasn’t the best at walking in heels.’

Andrews began co-hosting in 2014 for season 18, following Brooke Burke-Charvet’s departure.

This came a day after Emmy-winning host Bergeron tweeted that the show would be ‘continuing without’ him on Monday afternoon.

ABC later confirmed in a statement that not only was Bergeron out, but his co-host Andrews wouldn’t return as well.

A representative for the television personality said in a statement on Tuesday that the move was the network’s call.

Bergeron’s rep said: ‘ABC opted not to pick up Tom’s option. In the fine tradition of Hollywood cliches, they’re ‘Going in a different direction.’

He's out: Bergeron, 65, revealed Monday in a tweet that he had been fired from Dancing With The Stars after hosting since 2005; shown in August 2019 in NYC

In his tweet, the 65-year-old television personality revealed he had only recently learned of his firing.

‘Just informed @DancingABC will be continuing without me,’ he wrote. ‘It’s been an incredible 15 year run and the most unexpected gift of my career.

‘I’m grateful for that and for the lifelong friendships made. That said, now what am I supposed to do with all of these glitter masks?’ he joked.

Bergeron didn’t stick around long to say more, though when one fan asked if he was going to ‘finally’ become a contestant now, he replied, ‘Um…no.’

Bergeron most recently hosted the 28th season of Dancing With The Stars and marked his 15th year with the program.

ABC and BBC Studios confirmed that both he and his co-host Erin Andrews wouldn’t be returning for the upcoming 29th season in a statement.

‘Tom Bergeron will forever be part of the Dancing With The Stars family. As we embark on a new creative direction, he departs the show with our sincerest thanks and gratitude for his trademark wit and charm that helped make this show a success.

‘Erin will also not be returning, and we appreciate all that she brought to the ballroom. Fans have been rooting for her since she originally competed as a contestant back in 2010, and her signature sense of humor has become a hallmark of the show.’

In addition to Andrews, Bergeron’s previous co-hosts included Lisa Canning, Samantha Harris and Brooke Burke-Charvet.

Although his last appearance on DWTS was in November of last year, he surprised fans of The Masked Singer in early March when he was unmasked as the taco.

Prior to starting with the competition in 2005, Bergeron took over as the host of America’s Funniest Home Videos from 2001, which he hosted concurrently until 2015, when Alfonso Ribeiro took over.

Before that, he hosted Hollywood Squares from 1998–2004, which earned him a Daytime Emmy in 2000.

Bergeron publicly disagreed with DWTS producers prior to his final season over the casting of President Donald Trump’s former Press Secretary and Communication Director Sean Spicer.

Spicer had been lambasted for a number of demonstrably false statements made during his tenure, mostly famously when he claimed that the 2017 inaugural crowds were the largest in history, despite photographic evidence to the contrary.

‘A few months ago, during a lunch with DTWS’ new executive producer, I offered suggestions for season 28. Chief among them was my hope that DTWS, in its return from an unprecedented year-long hiatus, would be a joyful respite from our exhausting political climate and free of inevitably divisive bookings from any party affiliation,’ Bergeron tweeted. ‘I left that lunch convinced we were in agreement.’

‘Subsequently (and rather obviously), a decision was made to, as we often say in Hollywood, ‘go a different direction…. We can all agree to disagree. As we do now, but ultimately it’s their call. I’ll leave it to them to answer any further questions about those decisions.’

Dancing With The Stars is expected to return in the fall for season 29, though it’s unclear how the show will operate safely, and no new host has been announced.
