Bindi Irwin and husband Chandler Powell are expecting their first child!
In an Instagram post Tuesday, Irwin revealed their “Baby Wildlife Warrior” is due in 2021.
“Chandler and I are proud to announce that we’re expecting! It’s an honour to share this special moment in our lives with you,” she wrote. “Though I’m still in my first trimester, we really want you to be part of our journey from the beginning of this new life chapter.”
She continued, “We couldn’t wait to share the news as this beautiful little being has become the most important part of our lives. Your support means the world to us. Please let me know your best advice and send good vibes & prayers to our little sweetheart. Love & light.”
Thousands of Irwin’s 3.6 million followers took to the comment section to share their excitement and congratulations. Powell also shared a sweet message in the comments.
“You’re going to be the best mother,” he wrote with a heart emoji.
Irwin replied, “We’re going to be parents!! Still crying tears of happiness. I love you so much.”
In the photo, the animal-loving couple are seen wearing their khaki Australia Zoo uniform shirt while holding up a matching baby-sized outfit for the little one on the way.
Powell shared the same photo on his Instagram Tuesday.
“We’re going to be parents!! We have a baby Wildlife Warrior on the way coming in 2021. Becoming a dad is the highlight of my life,” he captioned the image. “I cannot wait to embark on this new adventure and life chapter with my gorgeous wife, @bindisueirwin. Bee, you’re going to be the most amazing mother.”
Irwin’s mom Terri took part in the photoshoot as well, sharing a picture of her with the couple on her Twitter Tuesday.
“This is the best day ever! I am over the moon to announce that @BindiIrwin and @chandlerpowell9 are going to have a baby!” she captioned the image. “Words cannot express the love that is filling my heart. While I wish that Steve was here to share this beautiful moment, I know that he would be so proud.”
Irwin’s brother Robert also weighed in on the “best news ever” on Twitter.
“I am so happy for Bindi & Chandler to be welcoming a new member of the family,” he captioned a photo of the whole family. “I can’t believe I’m going to be an uncle! Incredibly excited for this brilliant new chapter and all the fun adventures ahead with a new little Wildlife Warrior!”
Irwin, 22, and Powell, 23, got married at the Australia Zoo in March, hours before a curfew from the Australian government set to slow the spread of coronavirus would have restricted the wedding to five people.
She is the daughter of late TV presenter and zookeeper Steve Irwin, who died in 2006 at age 44 from a stingray attack while filming.
Bindi met Powell, a Florida native, in 2013 when he was visiting Australia for a wakeboarding competition, he revealed in 2015 when Irwin was on “Dancing with the Stars.” Irwin gave him a tour of the Australia Zoo.
The couple got engaged on July 24, 2019 – where else? – at the Australia Zoo.
